Barbara J. Winkler, 91, of Danville, passed away Friday, Oct. 27 at her home. She left this world to be with her Lord Jesus Christ forever in Heaven.
Barbara was the daughter of Herbert and Marjorie (Kittle) Kagels. She married George D. Winkler on Dec. 7, 1943, enjoyed 69 years together until his passing in 2012. She is survived by a son, Ronald (Judy) Winkler; five grandchildren, Natalie (Jeff) Weller, Travis (Nicole) Winkler, Heather (Michael), Meidel, Jodi Winkler and Stacy (T.J.) Draper; 10 great-grandchildren, Madison (Ryan) McCord, Tristen Winkler, Griffin Winkler, Elli Weller, Emily Meidel, Maggi Weller, Brett Meidel, AJ. Weller, Blakelyn Draper and Lennox Draper; sister, Catherine J. Thomas; along with many special nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by one son, Richard W. Winkler (Widow Peggi Kincaid survives); brother Richard; and sister Monai.
Barbara worked at J.C. Penney, owned and operated a beauty salon for many years, was a secretary for three doctors, and was the treasurer of Seventh Day Adventist for 47 years. She was an avid supporter of all her grandchildren in their activities, in sports and music. She proudly wore the Blue Devil blue colors, and Geneseo (Leafs) green. She followed them in football, soccer, basketball, volleyball and baseball. Her hobbies were knitting and crocheting many items for her family.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street, in Danville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Papes with Pastor Plummer and Pastor Iwankiw officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
