Arthur's Story

Text size

My beloved husband passed this life with his wife by his side at the age of 78 to be with the Lord.
Arthur L. Green was born Dec. 14, 1938, in Glendora, Miss., the son of Mr. Arole and Carrie (Ruckers) Green. His family moved to Champaign-Urbana in 1956 at the age of 15. He worked in Chicago as a construction worker for 10 years and later was hired at General Motors where he worked for 34 years until he retired in 1993.
Arthur was a faithful member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. He enjoyed watching football, baseball, basketball and he loved boxing on weekends. He loved going to Chicago and Rockford, having cookouts with his nieces and nephews.
Arthur leaves behind to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Deborah (Daggs) Green and his children, Valerie Green and Charlie (Chuck) Green of Memphis, Tenn., Arthur Green and Peggy (Green) Hendix of Las Vegas, Nev.; a granddaughter, Jessica Green; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Hill and Johnn Wynn.
Arthur was preceeded in death by his parents, Arole Green and Carrie (Ruckers) Green, and by 17 siblings.
A Celebration of life will commence at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 311 N. Collett., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11a.m. until the start of the service.
