Anthony S. Elgin, 29, of Woodlawn, Illinois passed away at 6:46 A.M. April 8, 2017 in Woodlawn. He was born March 11, 1988 in Amarillo, Texas to parents, Clarence Richard Elgin, Jr. and Laura (Thurman) Elgin.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Pastor Phil Poe officiating. Members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct Full Military Honors at the conclusion of the funeral service.
A Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Anthony S. Elgin is survived by his fiancée, Talia Campbell of Woodlawn, Illinois; son, Easton Elgin of Woodlawn, Illinois; mother, Laura Elgin of Amarillo, Texas; father and stepmother, Richard and Kristina Elgin of O'Fallon, Illinois; three brothers, Richie Elgin of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Eric Gordzelik and wife Randi Scott of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Aaron Jones of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Lelia Elgin of Amarillo, Texas; grandparents, Gary and Ina Thurman of Amarillo, Texas and Sterling and Jewel Fudge of Mount Vernon, Illinois; nephew, Daniel Gordzelik; niece, Kyla Brehm; his beloved dog, Kodi; in-laws, Cary and Sheri Campbell of Mount Vernon, Illinois; uncles, David Elgin, Jerry Schoonover, Larry Thurman, Wade Thurman, Lee Srader, and Robert Melton; aunts, Tracey Elgin, Donna Schoonover, Tracey Srader, Kim Melton, Jewel Hunt, and Debra Lamberson; and cousins, T.J. Lamberson, Robert Lamberson, Krystal Lamberson, Charels Perminter, Whitany Skinner, Crissy Perminter, Michael Ennen, and Mariah Ennen.
Anthony is also survived by many very good friends including, Nick Giacomo, Nick Peopina, and Josh Daehnke who served alongside him in Unit 739, Engineer Company of the United States Army; Jake Tackitt, Josh Laird, Jared Hayes, Kenny Beal, Ryan Bundy, Amanda Rohr Doug Johnson, T.J. Goddard, Chelsey Campbell, Josh Campbell, Kirby Henson, Tyler Hagston, Zack Lumkins, and Logan Karcher.
Anthony served our country in the United States Army, Unit 739, Engineer Company and worked as a field service technician for National Railway. He loved his dog, Kodi and his family and friends with all his heart, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and country music. He was larger than life and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
